"Gōngzhǔ" Chinese wedding cabinet - Tourqoise
In ancient China, furniture (cupboards and chests) was part of the dowry. The wedding cabinets therefore represent the union of two people and make it possible to preserve memories and presents of this exceptional day.
The wedding cabinets that we offer were made in China by our craftsmen respecting traditions. Slightly readjusted to our modern requirements, the GONGZHU wardrobe offers exclusive storage space thanks to its three tablars and two drawers. It will accommodate your most exceptional pieces. Ideal in a bedroom, this wardrobe can also be integrated into an entrance hall and bring warmth and comfort to your home. The finesse of the finishes sublimates the whole. The lacquer, the engravings made on the lower pediment as well as the bronze fittings concede a certain aestheticism.
More resistant and more flexible than oak, elm is a wood mainly used in carpentry and which was used in particular for the construction of half-timbered houses. It is a firm wood, quite hard and with a magnificent veining. It usually ranges from pink to gray and can be used to make great furniture.
Of Chinese origin, lacquer has its roots more than 3,000 years ago. Natural lacquer is a resin extracted from a tree called the “lacquer tree”. The colors used on our furniture are reconstituted lacquers. The application is done in several layers, up to 17. The smooth appearance is obtained thanks to multiple sandings which are done with water and after each layer. The beauty of the process lies in its effect of depth and slight translucency. The effect is splendid and will enhance your interior without equal.
Maintenance : All our elm furniture, painted, lacquered or varnished, is done by hand by our Chinese craftsmen. In order to preserve the beauty of the furniture, we advise you not to expose it to direct sunlight and to keep it away from sources of heat and external aggressions such as rain and humidity. To remove dust, a damp cloth is ideal, then wipe with a soft, dry cloth.
